About ASIS Dhaka Chapter
The word ASIS was introduced to Bangladeshi Security professionals in 2007, when Late Brig General Faruque Ashfaque (First Chapter Chair) and Major (Retd) Mahbub Alam Chowdhury attained CPP certification. Late Brig General Faruque Ashfaque organized five days training package which was conducted by Mr. David Cresswell, CPP, PSP. About 12 security professionals participated the training and most of them attempted CPP certification. It was a pencil and paper test organized under British Council, Bangladesh and Major (Retd) Nurul Mannan Choudhury (Present Chapter Chair) and Major (Retd) Mortaza Ahmed attained CPP certification in December 2008. Late Brig General Ashfaque took initiative and increased ASIS members to 15 to form ASIS Bangladesh Chapter (Chapter Number 265).
Security training / certification was not a popular choice in those days. In 2012 Late Brig General Ashfaque died and Lt Colonel Aminul Islam and Major (Retd) Nurul Mannan Choudhury took initiative and held election but number of members were decreasing. To make people interested in security training Mr. Anisur Rahman, MBA, CPP, PCI, PSP, CNSP of IQC and Major (Retd) Nurul Mannan Choudhury were carrying out regular coaching. In 2018 few young professionals attained CPP certification and took initiative to revitalize dormant ASIS Bangladesh Chapter. Among them Mr. Md. Anowar Hossain, CPP, PSP, PCI; Mr. Abid Uddin Mahmud, CPP, PSP, PSI; and Mr. A.S.M. Fasi Uddin, CPP were doing their best and conducted election, Where Major (Retd) Shahid became Chapter Chair , Major (Retd) Nurul Mannan Choudhury elected as Vice Chair, Mr Abid became Secretary and Mr Fasiuddin became treasurer .
Later on, in 2019 and 2020 regular election was held in ASIS Bangladesh Chapter with active participation by all members of the Chapter. List of all elected officials in the year 2019 and 2020 are given in the ASIS in the link below:-
